Life is returning to the Tegernseer Hof in Finsterwald.

After months of vacancy, a new operator has been found for the traditional building.

With long-term plans.

Gmund

– The forced closure during Corona, the recurring lockdowns, the resulting lack of staff: The Tegernseer Hof, which previously operated as Feichtner Hof for decades, could not cope.

At first, the beer garden and gastronomy remained closed, and at the beginning of 2022 the hotel with its 18 rooms closed the bulkheads.

Nothing has moved in the house since then, instead rumors of sale made the rounds, which owner Kristian Nicol Worbs, head of Aureus Immobilien und Anlagen GmbH, has always denied.

Hotel des Tegernseer Hof is scheduled to reopen on July 1st

Now there seems to be a future again for the company, whose history dates back to 1873.

At the beginning of June, 41-year-old Tobias Schröder, who holds a degree in business administration, signed a lease agreement for the Tegernseer Hof.

He doesn't hesitate: Schröder wants to open the hotel business again as early as July 1st.

The rooms can be booked via the relevant portals on the Internet, but also directly via the Tegernseer Hof.

A new tenant has fulfilled a dream with Tegernseer Hof

"It was always a dream of mine to move my professional work here," says the new operator, who used to live in Murnau and Munich, but has now been at home in Ostin for three years with his wife, who was born in Tegernsee .

The 41-year-old has his goal firmly in mind: he wants to develop a sustainable, lasting concept for the Tegernseer Hof ("that's a life's work") and help it regain its former glory.

"We want to be a contact point for both locals and tourists again."

Acute staff shortage: beer garden remains closed for the time being

That's the long-term goal.

While the hotel rooms are currently being prettied up and will be open to guests again at the beginning of July, the bars and the beer garden, which is so painfully missed by many, will remain closed for the time being.

The acute personnel situation does not yet allow the catering business to resume, regrets Schröder, who would actually rather revive the beer garden today than tomorrow.

The new landlord makes it clear that half measures do not exist with him.

First the personnel situation and the concept have to be right.

“I want to let it grow organically.” No one benefits if they can only open the beer garden irregularly or if they have to close the doors again in a year.

In four weeks or even in 2023: It is currently not possible to say when the gastronomy will open again,

Tenant is working flat out to get the hotel up and running

The new tenant is currently working at full speed to get the hotel running again.

Making the rooms bookable, creating a new website, dealing with authorities, acquiring staff for breakfast and room service: there is a lot to do.

The rooms themselves don't need a major remodel, just a little pretending.

"The whole property was very well cared for by the Worbs family," says the new tenant.

In addition to sustainable management, Schröder also wants to focus more on regionality, for example at breakfast.

"I would like to work with the providers in the valley." Entering the catering industry in these times - isn't that daring?

Schröder believes that people still appreciate good value for money and the attractiveness of the Tegernsee Valley as a holiday destination.

"In any case, that has perspective."
