I flew to Morocco on a delegation to deepen ties between Israel and the countries with which we signed the Abrahamic Agreements - two days after the terrorist entered the stuck settlement where I live • The foreign taste in my mouth became a childish optimism

Two days after the terrorist infiltrated the stuck settlement where I live, I flew to Morocco.

I accompanied a delegation from the Sharaqa movement, a "partnership" in Arabic, whose goal is to deepen ties between Israel and the countries with which we signed the Abrahamic Accords.

I was charged with fear and mistrust about the possibility of true peace.

I could not imagine what kind of life experience I would go through.

At every chance or planned meeting, throughout the entire week, whoever we met showered love on us.

There was no sense of danger or discomfort.

In in-depth conversations with locals, I tried to make it difficult: Jews are not Israel, I said.

Jews are not Zionists.

When you say "Jews" you are not saying Israelis.

They did not understand what I was talking about.

To them it is the same thing, and they added that al-Aqsa is far away, and that they are in Africa and what I am blabbering on about: This is your country.

Hello in the universe.

Holding the hand, looking into the eyes, smiling.

Absolutely real, do not mix us.

It can not be that everyone says the same thing and everyone lies.

I was confused.

The echoes of the shooting are stuck in my ears, and here I hear Arabic from morning to evening and I am completely calm.

Driving in an unprotected, unarmed vehicle.

On the way from Marrakech to Casablanca we passed a small village and the children had just left school.

I was automatically alerted.

In the village near my house, no one is driving at this time, because the Palestinian children are piling the cars with stones.

Here they waved goodbye.

There were bumps in this Oriental legend: the delegation landed in Morocco on the day of the death of Sheerin Abu Akala, a reporter for Al-Jazeera, who was the face of the conflict in the kingdom.

Politicians who were afraid to be seen with an Israeli delegation in those charged days, postponed their meeting.

As far as "Sharaka" is concerned, this means that we have to work harder, create a network of ties between the peoples, so that such meetings do not come up in the electorate.

Another leg on which the Abrahamic agreements in Morocco rest is the American recognition of Western Sahara as part of the kingdom.

A senior official we met said: "Just as there is never a right to interfere in our internal affairs on the Sahara, why should we interfere in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict ?! By what right? What do we understand in a distant neighbor conflict ?!"

Gradually the realization that there is a real "peace" permeated, even though we stopped dreaming about it.

"Peace" was an extreme left-wing word meaning existential danger and the delivery of homeland ropes, the basic desire for human brotherhood taken away and defiled.

And here the agreements of Abraham make it possible to say the word peace and to please what it signifies.

At the beginning of the journey the taste of the word in the mouth was foreign, almost unclean, like a betrayal of values.

In the end I realized that there is no contradiction, but a connection to almost childish optimism, and reality surpasses all imagination and how they try to present us in the world.

Were we wrong?

Fixed!
