Paris Comedy Festival: the great meeting of laughter

2022-06-22T18:24:24.698Z

Until June 30, the Paris Comedy Festival is settling in Bobino and Point-Virgule for around ten evenings. Whether scathing, absurd, satirical or political, humor will be there with nearly 100 artists on stage.

Already the 7th edition of the Paris Comedy Festival created on the initiative of Jean-Marc Dumontet with the ambition to resemble the biggest international comedy events.

The “FUP” for the intimate, which definitely sees itself taking the road to Montreux, is offering eight evenings this year in two services (7 p.m. and 9 p.m.) to attend rotating stages specially designed for this event.

A variety of shows for a variety of audiences that mix lovers of classic stand-up, and lovers of new formats of humor.

Putting the youth first

One of the first meetings of the festival was the “Funny comedians of tomorrow” evening given on Tuesday 21 June.

On stage that evening eight young talents who follow one another on the big stage of Bobino to hope to seduce the public and the jury of the FUP.

At stake, the SACD prize (society of dramatic authors and composers) and its €1000 gain and the FUP prize and a program at Grand Point-Virgule.

In previous years Nordine Ganso, Tristan Lopin, Alex Ramirez and Paul Mirabel have been in their place.

This evening of Fête de la musique it is Jessé his confidences and disappointment on his love life with men who wins the SACD prize.

Rodrigue, deliciously transgressive, wins the FUP prize with his confession.

He loves to see others suffer.

Not very strong but just enough to feel the frustration invade his congeners and witness this dejection.

Sets of only a few minutes which nevertheless hit home.

Among the unfortunate candidates Serine Ayari and Amandine Lourdel who could also have claimed the titles.

Jeremy Nadeau's flow of effective words or even Lisa Perrio's portraits are far from the only classic humorous scenes of the genre.

Like more and more comedians, she offers a universe populated by characters, an atmosphere that takes time to establish and goes against the frantic pace of stand-up.

Mixing genres

Emblematic of the FUP, the Stand up evening brings together artists spotted from previous years during the young talents evening but also the greatest hits of the moment.

This year Paul Mirabel, Morgane Cadignan, Vérino, Yacine Belhousse or Fanny Ruwet will perform on stage.

But for Nicolas Vital artistic director of the festival,

“It is important to mix genres”.

Like the “Singing in the laughs” evening created on the initiative of Alex Vizorek and André Manoukian.

The result ?

Improbable encounters between music and humor with the duos Lola Dubini and Emmanuel Moire or Guillaume Meurice and Gauvain Sers.

Because humor can also rhyme with commitment, the “Fier.es” evening brings together artists around the same desire:

"We guarantee the public a safe space that allows them to approach the theme of homosexuality with great freedom"

sums up Nicolas Vital.

White cards

Like others before them (François-Xavier Demaison for example), the programming is entrusted to artists

"so that they themselves invite the people they love"

explains Nicolas Vital.

He continues “these moments of sharing are important because humor is ultimately a fairly solitary profession”.

The only point in the specifications, for these evening masters and mistresses, is to offer a unique score specially composed for the festival.

This gives unique evenings like the one entrusted to Fabien Olicard (June 29) with guests of honor Élodie Poux, Vérino and many others.

In another genre, the pajama party organized by the musical-humorous trio Les coquettes will receive their guests in their night clothes (June 27).

A great regular at Waly Dia, meanwhile, welcomes François-Xavier Demaison (whose guest he himself was on his menu in a previous edition), Shirley Souagnon and La Bajon (June 24).

And the FUP, which is tending to become the biggest comedy festival in France, does not intend to stop there.

Since this year, it has joined forces with the International Federation of Humor and Laughter Festivals (FIFHR) and the ComediHa!

Fest-Québec, Voo Rire in Liège and Morges-sous-Rire in Switzerland.

A first step towards the international.

Paris Comedy Festival until June 30, at Bobino (14th) and Point-Virgule (4th).
