The Judea and Samaria Civil Administration has financed the rehabilitation of a pirate landfill in Area C, in the amount of NIS 370,000 from public funds, even though the Palestinian criminals are known to the defense establishment, according to a petition filed today (Wednesday) with the Regavim movement.

The petition describes the story of the case, which began in 2019 when members of the organization identified that "criminals took over the natural space in Area C, near the Psagot junction in Binyamin, and began pouring huge amounts of waste and burning it, without a permit - severely damaging soil, flora and fauna, and creating "Environmental pollution and a health hazard are extremely difficult for all residents of the area, Jews and Arabs alike."

Following this, the movement turned to the Israeli law enforcement authorities in Judea and Samaria, which have all the powers in Area C, and they updated that they seized and confiscated several garbage trucks so that the identities of the criminals were known to them. A cost of NIS 370,098 was paid from his budget, and he also noted that he did not have information on the identities of the criminals.

The saga did not end there, and after it became clear that trucks that returned to dump garbage at the site were documented last February, Regavim decided to appeal to the High Court. "The cost is hundreds of thousands of shekels, and the criminals will not only not be prosecuted at all, even though their identities are known to the authorities, but will also return to dumping waste at the site without any permission and while causing irreversible damage to the ground."

The High Court will now be asked to consider whether this is a "negligent policy that allows offenders to commit offenses - without being required to 'pay' any price for their commission and for the damages caused - and is well rooted in the field, and the offenders take advantage of law enforcement."

The movement emphasizes that "this is not the only illegal dump in the area. The criminals, who are aware that the authorities are not taking any action against the criminals themselves, are taking advantage of this to continue to commit many more offenses in the area."
