Anyone who tests positive for Corona while on vacation faces a number of challenges.

It was supposed to be a big break from everyday life, just relax and think about other things.
And then the corona test abroad suddenly becomes positive.
This definitely messes up the holiday and also poses many unanswered questions.
But how do you behave properly?
Positive corona test abroad: This is how you should behave
If you hold a
positive corona test
in your hands, it means that you should now find out how best to behave.
If you have received a positive test result from a self-test, you should immediately go into
self-isolation
.
That advises the Federal Ministry of Health.
In principle, however, the quarantine rules of the respective country apply, there are some differences that affect the duration of the quarantine and the location.
Some countries require a corona test upon entry, this is the case in Thailand, for example.
If this corona test then turns out to be positive, the state authorities are informed and the system starts up.
If you receive an antigen rapid test from an official body in another country and have only given an e-mail address, it can be difficult for the authorities to trace it back.

Basically, you should observe the respective rules of the country, the insulation is to be carried out on your own responsibility.
In general, you are
no longer allowed to use
public transport .
This means that there is no return journey by scheduled aircraft, bus or train.
The Federal Ministry of Health reports that there is no general return ban for infected people.

If you develop corona symptoms while you are on holiday in Austria, you can contact the regional
health
hotline.
Then, on a case-by-case basis, we look at what action is best to take.
Basically, you don't do anything wrong with immediate self-isolation.
If you receive a positive
rapid antigen
test , you must go into quarantine immediately until a
PCR test
finally provides clarity about the infection status.
A
quarantine
ends automatically after five days if you no longer show any symptoms after the third day.

Departure by plane, bus or
train
is not permitted.
An individual departure with your own car can take place after consultation with a doctor.
This is based on information from the Austrian tourism website.
It is not possible to say in general which costs you will incur, it depends on the health and travel insurance or the package tour provider.
Positive corona test on holiday in Greece - quarantine in the hotel
If you get a positive corona test while on vacation in Greece, the authorities will order a five-day quarantine.
You can usually wait for this in your hotel room.
If you have traveled individually, a place of residence will be assigned by the responsible authorities.
Departure by plane is not permitted.
