Return of the Livrodrome, the traveling youth literary festival

The Partir en livre book festival returns to 10 cities in France from Wednesday until July 24. 4,000 events organized throughout France will bring the love of reading to life with a year under the sign of friendship.

, a youth book festival at the start of summer, will see the return of the Livrodrome, a traveling literary festival, stopped in its last years due to the Covid-19 health crisis.

Launched in 2018 (with four stages), renewed in 2019 (five stages), the Livrodrome resumes service in 2022, with 10 stages from Wednesday June 22 until July 22.

Organized by the National Book Center (CNL), the event aims to promote reading among 11-18 year olds.

The stages are successively Paris, Liévin, Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, Toul, Mont-de-Marsan, Montpellier, Pamiers, Bergerac, Saint-Étienne and Marseille.

"At each stage, a dozen authors and illustrators are mobilized (a hundred in all) to animate workshops, radio interviews, literary prescriptions",

indicates the CNL in a press release.

"One or two independent booksellers will offer young readers the opportunity to buy the works of the authors present as well as a selection of titles of their choice thanks to the Checks to Read that they will receive at the various attractions",

he adds.

More than 100,000 of these vouchers must be offered thanks to the financial support of McDonald's France and Up (the lunch voucher manager).

On the occasion of Partir en livre,

"a few thousand events, including more than 200 labeled by the CNL, will be organized in more than 300 places to allow young people and their families to taste the pleasure of reading",

underlined the president of this public institution, Régine Hatchondo.

She also announced

"50 author residences (...) in summer camps and leisure centers throughout the month of July"

.
