Shortly before the G7 summit, eight police cars burned out in Munich.

They were standing in front of a hotel where the emergency services for the summit are staying.

– Shortly before the start of the G7 summit at Schloss Elmau, eight police cars went up in flames in Munich.

Several forces from the police and fire brigade then moved out around 3 a.m.

Even a helicopter was on duty.

A good one and a half hours later, the extinguishing work in the elevated road could be completed.

The team buses of the federal riot police were all in front of a hotel on an elevated street on Munich's Gasteig in the Haidhausen district early on Wednesday morning.

The hotel is currently hosting emergency services for the G7 summit, as a spokesman for the Munich police told the German Press Agency.

Investigators suspected arson.

Eight police cars burned down in Munich

Shortly after becoming known, the police searched for possible perpetrators with a helicopter, among other things, but were initially unsuccessful, as the spokesman said.

Investigators examined the completely burned-out police van.

The officials estimated the damage in the six-digit range.

Nobody got hurt.

The G7 summit is planned for June 26-28 at Schloss Elmau at the foot of the Wetterstein Mountains near Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

The heads of state and government of the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Italy, Japan and Canada will meet under the leadership of Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD).

The heads of state will have their first contact with the host country, Germany, at Munich Airport.

Preparations are already in full swing there.
