The teachers' protest reaches its peak today since it began, with the suspension of classes in kindergartens and elementary schools. "Every parent loses at least NIS 2,000 because of the disabilities," said a frustrated mother from the recent disruptions. "There are two more weeks left with the kindergarten teacher and the teacher that the children love so much and these days are going to waste"

1.5 million children will not come to kindergartens and elementary schools this morning (Wednesday) following the teachers' union strike.

The teachers' protest, which is at its peak today since it began, has forced parents across the country to cancel the work day and stay home.

In conversations with Walla!

While most have expressed support for teachers' demands for a pay rise, they refuse to accept the path - and criticize the decision to cancel classes eight days before the end of the year.

"It hurts me financially and the children who are not in the framework. I am already ashamed to call every time to work and say I will come later, and now I will not come at all," said Tzlil, a resident of Ramla and mother of a six-year-old girl and three-year-old twins.

"I do not have anyone who can cover me and stay with the children. If I take a babysitter - I will spend all the money I earn that day at work, it does not pay. It is very sad that the Minister of Education thinks only of herself. I am with the teachers, but as soon as it hits my pocket "It borders on impudence. We need to get our studies back in order and hurt those who really need to hurt. Why are we to blame?"

Revital, 42, a mother of three from Alfei Menashe, said she canceled work appointments she had scheduled.

"Hurting the parents' livelihood and leaving us at home does not make sense, certainly not five minutes before the big holiday where we will have to butterfly to find a solution for the children. "She's been crying for me for two days now that they're starting at ten and that she wants to say goodbye to the teacher and attend rehearsals for school. When she found out there were no classes tomorrow she really burst into tears.

"I have no choice but to be with the children," said Talia Yaakov, a mother of children aged three and six.

"I feel like I'm suffocating. My husband and I work full time plus plus. I immigrated from the United States 11 years ago so I have no nuclear family here to help. Last week I have no routine, my employer can hear no more excuse. I can not believe we're going through this anymore "Once after two years of Corona, isolation and closures. It's a circus - and a punishment for children."

Nearly two weeks ago, the teachers' union launched a round of sanctions, in which studies began in kindergartens, schools and middle schools at 10:00, every day in a different district and finally in all districts together, with the widespread disruptions designed to put pressure on the Ministry of Finance to reach a wage agreement.

Some parents have managed to find a solution for the children, but even for them the recent sanctions disrupt the routine of life.

"Because of the strike, I have to bring the child to his father, my divorcee," said Talia Twill, a Raanana resident.

"All week I breeze out of school. Last week I had to ask my mom to stay with him. I understand the teachers and they deserve a lot more money, but it affects our money: every parent loses at least two thousand shekels because of the disabilities. It's the last two weeks with the teacher and teacher. They are so loved and these important days are just going to waste. "
