Tesla is also opening its superchargers to everyone in Germany.
But how does the charging process work for third-party chargers and what does the electricity cost?
Austin – More and more drivers in Germany are swapping their combustion engine for an environmentally friendly electric car.
However, the expansion of the infrastructure is not lagging behind and so there are still no charging stations in many places.
Tesla is now providing some relief, because the US company is opening many of its superchargers in Germany to everyone.
Right from the start, Tesla has consistently built up its own network and now operates more than 35,000 charging points worldwide. For a long time, however, only their own customers could charge at the superchargers.
In November 2021, however, Tesla started a pilot project and opened its charging stations in the Netherlands to third-party brands for the first time.
Since then, more and more countries have been added.

Germany has not been one of them so far, but electric car owners abroad have been able to charge their vehicles at the superchargers.
In the meantime, Tesla has also rolled out the pilot project in Germany and released 16 locations with 314 charging stations for third-party brands.
If you want to use the Supercharger network, which is to be expanded further in the coming years, you need the Tesla app (version 4.2.3 or higher).
Depending on the operating system, this can be downloaded from the App or Play Store.
An account must then be created and the payment method selected, and then you can start.

"Charge non-Tesla" must also be selected in the app and then the appropriate supercharger can be selected.
To start the charging process, the corresponding charging station is specified in the app.
Once the car is fully charged, all you have to do is click on “Stop charging”.

Non-members are charged 70 cents per kilowatt hour.
However, prices may vary by location and are shown in the app.
In addition to Germany, Tesla has also approved its superchargers for third-party electric cars in Denmark, Finland, Luxembourg and Switzerland.
