The contact never broke off: VdK Eching reports back from the compulsory break

Roswitha Heidenreich is the name of the old and new chairwoman of the local VdK.

With 584 members, the social association is one of the largest clubs in Eching.

- With summer temperatures, 40 voters took the opportunity on Sunday to come together for a larger event in the ASZ for the first time after a long corona break - and to give their board a unanimous vote of confidence.

So the election, carried out briskly by district chairman Gabi Woelk, was a matter of form.

Heidenreich is supported by deputy Monika Drexler, who is also responsible for looking after members, treasurer and women's representative Marie-Luise Grass and secretary Ulrike Fung.

Stefan and Anna Maria Stern, Bozena Melerowitz and Bernhard Oppermann act as assessors.

The short board report, in which Heidenreich reviewed two difficult years under the pandemic, made it very clear: almost all club activities have come to a standstill.

The head of the association was all the more grateful to the board of directors and the members "that we didn't lose sight of each other in these times".

Even if personal visits were often not possible, the birthday congratulations and recovery wishes were given by telephone and in writing.

The vouchers for special round and semi-round anniversaries came in the mail.

Collection Help Heal Wounds was also a big hit online

A joint memorial was dedicated to the 28 members of the association who died between 2020 and June 2022.

An innovation introduced due to the corona virus was the “Help Heal Wounds” collection, which was only carried out online for the first time.

It worked really well and was well received, Heidenreich was pleased to say.

The HWH collection is also an important source of income for local social concerns, as half of the income remains with the association.

The age group most represented is the 55 to 64 year olds, Heidenreich said.

She pointed out that the great interest in the social organization was due to the many social, health and financial problems that older and handicapped people in particular are confronted with.

At the same time, many members also meant “many problems”, according to the chairperson.

The traditional Thursday regulars' table is also being revived

Personal contacts are all the more important.

Every 3rd Thursday of the month they want to revive the regular get-together.

There will be an opportunity to exchange ideas at 3 p.m. in the ASZ.

For their many years of loyalty to the VdK, more than 30 members were honored with certificates and pins for 10, 20, 25 and 30 years of association loyalty.

Max Egersdoerfer (95), who was there with the bike, has been a member of the social association for no less than 70 years.

Heidenreich: "You really should have rolled out the red carpet."
