The Farmers' Union: Establishing specialized training courses with the aim of developing agricultural work

Ibrahim Al-Hussein, head of the Office of Rehabilitation, Training and Rural Development in the General Union of Peasants, revealed that the General Union of Peasants announced a plan to set up 145 short training courses in the field of agricultural production, both plant and animal, in addition to implementing 56 short training courses for rural women in the agricultural products manufacturing sector in all governorates.

In a statement to SANA's reporter, Al-Hussein indicated that the rural areas most in need of support that can be reached are chosen in cooperation with international organizations and in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture.

Al-Hussein said: Short courses were held in the livestock sector, which included raising sheep and cows, for a period of 5 days, in Palmyra and Tal Kalakh, and included 20 trainees in each of them. A short course for rural women on dairy and milk products manufacturing, for a week, in Rastan, which included 15 trainees.

In the context of seeking to reduce the costs of agricultural work and increase production and development, Al-Hussein explained that training courses were held on modern methods of potato cultivation, fertilization methods and pest control methods, in which 25 trainees participated, in addition to implementing a 5-day specialized course in wheat crop cultivation and service, which included 25 trainees, which included the correct methods of cultivation and use The secured seeds, the methods of care and the fertilizer formula for spraying pesticides and irrigation at the appropriate times, while a course on the importance and benefits of modern irrigation and modern irrigation methods was carried out in Al-Haffah area in Lattakia, which included 25 trainees.

For his part, Basem Ali, Director of the Central Adar Institute for Farming Education, pointed out the importance of awareness and training courses for farmers at all levels to qualify and prepare agricultural cadres that contribute to the exchange of ideas and experiences in all areas of agricultural work according to modern and correct methods, pointing out that the number of courses planned for this year at the Azar Institute is 21 long courses lasting thirty days, of which four are currently held in Lattakia, Homs, Sweida and in the Damascus countryside, and 18 specialized short courses.

A number of farmers and livestock breeders talked about the usefulness of the training courses they followed in increasing their expertise and informing them of modern methods in agricultural and livestock production, which would enable them to reduce labor costs and increase production.
