The steps taken by the Arab takeover of the territory were revealed by the Jerusalem Envelope Forum, which works to preserve the state lands on the eastern side of Jerusalem.

The Mevaseret Adumim area is hotly contested between Israel and the Palestinians and Western countries that support them.

To prevent the Israeli move, the Palestinians have recruited Western European countries and the United States, which are putting severe pressure on Israel to refrain from building in the region.

Despite the pressure, Prime Minister Netanyahu announced at the end of his term that he would promote construction in the area.

The outgoing Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, also announced the promotion of construction in Mevaseret Adumim, but in practice stopped the process.
