The direct receiving and shipping center, which was opened by the branch of the Syrian Grain Foundation in Deir ez-Zor in the city of Al-Bukamal, is witnessing a remarkable turnout from farmers to deliver their wheat, as the expenses and burdens of moving to other centers have been reduced.
The director of the Foundation’s branch in Deir Ezzor, Eng. Adib Rakad, said in a statement to SANA reporter that within the framework of procedures to facilitate the process of marketing wheat, this center was opened in cooperation with the Agricultural Association in Al-Bukamal, with the aim of alleviating the burdens on farmers, pointing out that it was equipped with all the needs of a yard, a secret room, a laboratory and cadres. Technical and human, so that the wheat is received from the farmers of Al-Bukamal and the surrounding areas and transported at the expense of the institution to the permanent centers in each of Al-Mayadin and Deir ez-Zor.
The head of the Abu Kamal Agricultural Association, Ahmed Al-Hassan, pointed out that the opening of the center after an 11-year hiatus is an important and supportive step for wheat farmers in the region, within the framework of the granted facilities, which included securing all production requirements such as seeds, fertilizers and fuels, and setting a remunerative price for the purchase of the crop, stressing that the center is witnessing an increasing demand from farmers. Albukamal to deliver their wheat produced in the wheat-cultivated lands, which amount to more than 18,000 dunams.
A number of farmers praised this step, which relieves them of the trouble and expenses of transporting their crops to the Al-Mayadin Center, which is about 100 km away from them, demanding that this center be one of the permanent centers in light of the availability of technical and human capabilities for that.
It is noteworthy that the branch of the Syrian Grain Corporation has allocated five centers to receive wheat from farmers this year, two of which are permanent. For direct delivery and shipment in Al-Bukamal, Al-Tabani and Hatla.
