Tram waiting: Volkswagen ID.5

2022-06-22T07:00:00.743Z

The Volkswagen ID.5 is another tool in the company's comprehensive electric attack. On the roads of Europe her sisters are already making a great revolution. And we are still waiting. Delays in production and supply indicate local marketing only in 2023

Of the three largest manufacturers in the world, Volkswagen is the only one that has responded quickly and decisively to electric fashion.

With four electric models that are well-aimed at the core of the segments in the automotive world, it is definitely making waves especially in Europe.

This quick response also uses the rest of the arms of this concern (Audi, Seat, Copra, Skoda) to lead this trend.

In Israel, there is no evidence of any of this yet, with most of the electric attack concentrated in Europe.

If you add to that the production and supply problems that have been imposed on the world in the last two years, you understand why we have not yet seen a single Volkswagen electric vehicle in Israel.

The stream is supposed to start at the end of this year, with the ID.5 we drove, waiting for next year.

The Volkswagen ID.5 is in fact the “coupe-like” version of the electric recreational vehicle ID.4 that was introduced before it.

Its two brothers, Audi and Skoda, are already being marketed with us, all of which use the same new dedicated electric platform of the concern.

The design here is more impressive than the "regular" version and meets exactly the requirements of the audience.

It seems that such a "coupe-like" leisure is the current bon-ton and Volkswagen knows it.

Although the sloping roofline is supposed to hurt the headroom at the rear, the cabin felt spacious and very comfortable in the rear seat as well.

The design continues the company's electric line with a huge information screen in the center of the console, a relatively small information screen for the driver and an abundance of information in a top-view display that uses augmented reality technology.

The feeling here is modern and pleasant and the operation feels more intuitive, even compared to the nurses from the same house.

On the Tyrolean roads the ID.5 felt at home.

The ride as expected is quiet, round and very pleasant.

In the 204 hp PRO version we modeled, the performance was impressive but not jaw-dropping.

This version featured good road manners with the rear engine position and propulsion completely transparent to the driver.

This configuration and power of this version in the car from three decades ago was a proven recipe for trouble or pleasure, but in this age this is not the case.

The GTX version that was also used as part of the event is listed with higher power (300 hp) and very impressive performance.

This version also drives its front wheels and further raises the bar of ability.

This car is loaded with technology, and the same goes for safety.

The full safety system shell of the Volkswagen Mouth provides a quiet head with semi-autonomous intelligent driving.

And there is also the automatic parking system, which knows how to remember up to five parking spaces.

Arriving at the entrance to the house for example, it has to be activated and from here it will make the journey itself to the parking lot.

One smart example out of many in this car.

While Toyota is only just entering the full electric field these days and at GM innovation is starting to seep into simpler models, the German concern is already in full swing.

European sales figures, however, show that the celebration of small manufacturers is over.

Cars like the ID.5 make us regret that the local market can not be part of this trend.
