In the collective bargaining dispute over the wages of port workers, the Verdi union has called for a 24-hour warning strike in Germany's seaports on Thursday.
The union said on Wednesday that the locations in Hamburg, Emden, Bremerhaven, Bremen, Brake and Wilhelmshaven would be affected.
“The offer made by the employers in the fourth round of negotiations is totally inadequate;
Hamburg/Bremen - it has not brought any substantial improvement to the previous offer, but turned out to be a classic deceptive package," said Verdi negotiator Maya Schwiegershausen-Güth.
Even before the third round of negotiations, port workers had, for the first time in decades, largely paralyzed the handling of ships for several hours in a warning strike and further increased the already massive delays at the quayside.
