Air masses fight over Bavaria.

In many places, warm, muggy thunderstorm weather will prevail.

In the north, the risk of forest fires continues to increase.

Munich – As if Peter couldn't make up his mind – and to stay with the biblical comparisons – he now passed a Solomonic verdict on Bavaria.

In the north of the Free State it will remain sunny and dry with top temperatures of around 30 degrees.

While the south is struggling with one thunderstorm after the other and has to live with an almost chilly 23 degrees in Munich.

Weather in Bavaria: Danger of forest fires in the north, thunderstorms in the south

However, the reason for the two-part weather in Bavaria is not the apostle Jesus, but two different air masses that compete for supremacy.

The German Weather Service (DWD) writes in its forecast: "An air mass boundary over Bavaria separates dry and moderately warm air in the north from warm, humid and unstable air in the south.

In the course of the day, the unstable warm air moves further northwards.” In this context, damp and unstable means thunderstorms.

In the south of the Free State on Wednesday, June 22, it will remain muggy and warm all day.

This can lead to local storms with heavy rain of around 20 l/sqm per hour.

Hail and squalls are also possible.

In some regions it can get even worse.

There are 25 liters of rain per square meter here.

The hailstones can reach a diameter of two centimeters.

And the wind is blowing at up to 85 km/h.

As already mentioned, the situation in the north is completely different.

Here, the forest in particular longs for a damp cooling down from above.

The DWD writes: "In Northern Bavaria there is a widespread high risk of forest fires (warning level 4), locally also a very high one (warning level 5 of 5)." And the first drops will probably not fall here before Friday.

The city of Hof therefore reacted.

From this Wednesday, June 22nd, until the end of August, the operation of open fireplaces outdoors, "especially campfires, midsummer fires and fireplaces" is prohibited, the city announced.

"The reason for this is the high risk that the fire could spread uncontrollably due to the drought." Other cities set up similar rules.

Weather in Bavaria: It remains unstable - it will be warm and dry at the weekend

The last thunderstorms passed on Thursday and it is getting sunny all over Bavaria.

According to

wetteronline.de,

the thermometer in Würzburg and Bamberg climbs to 32 degrees.

In Munich and Kempten it's already over at 28 degrees.

On Friday it can crack throughout the Free State.

Storm clouds from Lower Franconia to Upper Bavaria.

It cools down to around 26 degrees in Upper and Lower Franconia.

In the Allgäu it will be just 22 degrees.

The weekend will be sunny and dry in many places.
