Schwabhausen – The Schwabhausen branch of the Catholic Women's Federation decided at its general meeting to withdraw from the Catholic German Women's Federation (KDFB).

With a clear majority of 54 out of a total of 61 votes, the Board of Management's proposal to resign at the end of the year was followed.

After the welcome from team spokeswoman Hermine Burgermeister, Pastor Albert Hack took over the role of presenting the thoughts of the board once again.

"People have grown apart a little - there's a little something going on," he soberly described the situation.

The increase in contributions announced by the diocese, which is unacceptable for many members of the association (we have reported), was explained again, as was the felt lack of appreciation on the part of the diocesan association.

It is important for the members to provide attractive offers for all women on site and to have the necessary rooms and cooperation partners.

And the Schwabhausener Frauenbund could offer that without any problems, for example it could continue to use the rectory.

"We propose to decide today to leave," Hack said.

The exit does not mean a turning away from the Catholic Church, was heard from various sides that evening.

Before the vote came about, delegate representative Gerlinde Nimtsch reported on the May meeting of the diocesan association, which she attended together with Hildegard Schuster.

She informs that the topic of contributions has not attracted as much attention in all branch associations as in Schwabhausen.

The lack of communication, on the other hand, reported Nimtsch.

Ultimately, there was a verbal promise from the chair of the diocesan association, Sylvia Nazet, that a "flexible fee" could be set up for branch associations that would otherwise leave, which, starting from the current status in 2022 with 32 euros, would only increase in 2026 to 40 euros and from 2030 then raised to 48 euros.

Hildegard Schuster listed arguments against leaving and recalled that after the last meeting in Schwabhausen Nazet was promised that one could live with an increase of five euros in four years.

It was important to her that "a compromise could be found based on what von Schwabhausen had accepted".

Commitments on the part of the diocesan association were also given, among other things, with regard to better communication.

Schuster praised the fact that the deficits had been recognized in the association and that improvements were praised: "I had no negative impression and I had the feeling that the word is heard when you say a word".

Her recommendation was to remain in the KDFB as a branch association: "I think it's a shame if we decide to give up the work and initiative of 43 years so easily".

However, this was immediately countered by a club colleague: "We didn't make it easy for ourselves."

There was great tension in the rectory as to whether the necessary three-quarters majority would be reached.

Great applause broke out after the announcement of the result.

This makes it clear "where we stand," said Hermine Burgermeister.

But it is also clear: “No one should be excluded.”
