"Adapting Studies to the 21st Century": The New Outline for Middle School Mathematics

The Ministry of Education is building a new program for mathematics studies in
middle schools, the director general of the ministry, Dalit Stauber, announced yesterday (Wednesday) at the Eli Horowitz Conference on Economics and Society.

"We are making adjustments in the curricula so that our students can pass the PISA tests," the ministry's director general said.
"Success in these tests is not a luxury, it is an expression of the required skills. We are making a change in the middle school mathematics curriculum with the intention of adapting the curriculum to the required skills."
Stauber also mentioned other programs that the ministry promotes as part of the attempt to update the curriculum, including the integration of high-tech skills in kindergartens and eighth grades, studies on the climate crisis from kindergarten to twelfth grade and English studies in kindergartens and first and second grades. Lith, are designed to "increase our students' speaking abilities and expose children to English from kindergarten through play."
Stauber also mentioned the reform to reduce the number of matriculations, which will take effect at the beginning of the next school year.
