Senate Attorney Guetta was convicted today (Thursday) of attacking a demonstrator and press photographer in the Balfour protest that took place in August 2020, against then-Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. , Used violence against the demonstrators "and that" there was no reason to use force "- therefore he was convicted of two assault offenses.
The indictment states that during a demonstration held on August 22, one of the protesters approached Guetta, a senior officer in the Jerusalem district, and complained about the behavior of the police towards the protesters.
In response, Guetta tightly pushed the protester with both hands in his face, twice.
The same protester was then arrested, and one of the photographers documenting the incident was attacked by the officer.
It is further revealed that the incident took place during a procession of protesters from the String Bridge to a residence on Balfour Street, which was not approved by the police.
During it, some of the demonstrators arrived on Bezalel Street, intending to continue marching towards Paris Square.
Police force on the scene ordered protesters to repeat their traces, blocking their way.
At that moment, Lt. Gen. Guetta was standing on the road with the forces.
At this point the attacked demonstrator turned to the senior officer, complaining to him about the behavior of the police towards the demonstrators on the spot.
In response, the officer attacked the protester, who removed Guetta's face mask and began fleeing the scene.
Then the officer began to chase after him, to arrest him.
Then, at the time of the demonstrator's arrest, Guetta carried out the attack on the press photographer.
According to the indictment, the photographer accompanied the arrest on the spot, and while documenting the case, Deputy Superintendent Guetta repulsed him and hit him in the face using a walkie-talkie he was holding in his hand.
