Severe storms hit the north-eastern district of Freising late Monday afternoon: one person died.

Update from June 21, 9:30 p.m .:

Because Monday’s storm caused significant damage to a large number of trees, the city of Moosburg is now offering its citizens a free opportunity to remove the broken branches.

According to the police, the cyclist who was killed by a falling tree is a 53-year-old man from Baden-Württemberg who, together with his partner, is on a bike path near the waterworks in Moosburg.

Despite resuscitation measures by fire and rescue services, the man died at the scene of the accident.

His partner was cared for by a crisis intervention team.

A 15-year-old from the district was seriously injured.

He was with a friend on the banks of the Amper near the Pillhofen weir when he was hit by a tree.

He was taken to a hospital by rescue helicopter.

The friend was slightly injured.

In Abens (Markt Au), a tree fell on the car of a 56-year-old from Lower Franconia who was traveling on Hirnkirchner Straße.

He was badly injured in the process.

The vehicle was totaled.

Possibly swimmer missing at aqua park

At the aqua park, the water rescue team used divers and sonar to search for a female.

According to the police, there were "vague suspicions" that she might not have been able to leave the water in time.

A police helicopter was also deployed.

However, the search was unsuccessful.

There is currently no missing person report from the Moosburg police.

The population is now being asked for help: Anyone who can give relevant information about a 70-year-old swimmer is asked to contact the Moosburg police on Tel. 08761/3018-0.

Regional train route still closed

Update from June 21, 8:23 a.m .:

After the severe hailstorm in Upper Bavaria, the regional train line between Moosburg (Freising district) and Bruckberg (Landshut district) is still closed, said a railway spokesman on Tuesday morning.

The overhead line was damaged there and is currently being repaired.

The closure is expected to be lifted around noon.

Until then, travelers will have to transfer to buses on the route.

During the storm on Monday, a falling tree in the Freising district killed a cyclist - a pedestrian and a driver were seriously injured.

The power went out in the town of Moosburg an der Isar, which has around 20,000 inhabitants, and in several communities in the surrounding area.

In other districts in northern Upper Bavaria, according to the police, the storm had only minor effects apart from a few fallen trees.

As Mayor Josef Dollinger reported around midnight, parts of the city had electricity again.

Trains between Freising and Landshut discontinued

The Freising district office provides information about the power failure on its Facebook page: There is currently no electricity in the Moosburg, Oberhummel, Niederhummel, Wang, Mauers, Gammelsdorf and Kirchamper areas.

It is not known how long this will remain so.

The appeal of the district authority: "Inform your neighbors as a precaution and provide help if necessary."

District office appeals: Adjust power consumption via batteries

The district office advises the citizens - if possible - to keep themselves informed about the situation on site via the local media.

Power outages in several communities

According to the Oberbayern-Nord Police Headquarters, the focus of the thunderstorms with gusts of wind and heavy rain in the greater Dreirosenstadt area.

There, as well as in the surrounding communities of Langenbach, Mauer, Haag, Attenkirchen and Nandlstadt, trees fell, and numerous power outages were also reported.

As confirmed by the Munich municipal utility responsible for the energy supply, the overhead lines to Uppenborn and Munich were damaged by the storm.

It also said: “The SWM security service is already on site to restore the supply as quickly as possible.” However, it will probably take several hours to remedy the problem.

Severe storm in the north-eastern district: people injured

The rescue service is also on duty: According to the police, several people have been injured by flying branches, three even more seriously.

They had to be taken to the hospital.

Numerous trees were uprooted in the Attenkirchen area.

At times nothing worked on the A 92 between the Moosburg-Nord and -Süd exits due to fallen trees.

In the direction of Freising-Ost, traffic made little headway.

The same applied to the B 301, which had to be closed between Attenkirchen and Au.

No train service between Moosburg and Bruckberg

In addition, no train service is currently possible between Moosburg and Bruckberg.

As reported by Deutsche Bahn, the trains turned around prematurely in Freising and Landshut.

A rail replacement cannot be offered due to the lack of buses.

Numerous passengers are “stranded” at the train station in Freising, among other places.
