In Gelting, a café is being built on an old farmstead.

Trudi Pfattrisch is thus fulfilling a dream - much to the enthusiasm of the building committee.

Gelting – At the age of 67, she is fulfilling a great wish: in the garden of her old farm at Am Haken 4, Trudi Pfattrisch opens an open-air daytime café.

Initially, there should only be an outdoor gastronomy with 30 seats.

"But maybe it won't stay that way," says the Geltinger.

Until recently, Pfattrisch worked as a registrar in the municipality of Schäftlarn.

"I really liked doing it and that's why I added another year to it," reports the 67-year-old.

But now she has retired and needs a new job.

Her husband died suddenly ten years ago, and they had already given up farming in 1997.

A café, “that has always been my wish,” says Pfattrisch.

She kept looking around to see how others organize their small courtyard cafés.

The name was obvious: "Trudis Traum".

She will bake the cakes herself, possibly with a helper.

"I want to go back to the traditional, like apple strudel or tubular pasta." Sweets that you can't find everywhere.

But there will also be Pfattrisch's specialty, Black Forest gateau.

"I always succeed." She would like to open the café on Saturdays and Sundays.

Trudi Pfattrisch would like to get started right away.

But before that, there are still a few renovations to be done.

The former milk room becomes a kitchen.

A room facing the terrace will be converted into an output.

"Trudis Traum" will be a self-service café.

The approval of the district office is still pending.

The city's building and environmental committee gave the municipal agreement on Tuesday.

City architect Christian Müller presented the project to the committee.

"I admire the owner for doing something like this"

The key data: The outdoor area will be 50 square meters, there are five parking spaces for visitors, one for staff and two for tenants in the existing attic apartment.

"I was happy to accept the application," he said.

The committee members were impressed too.

"I admire the owner for doing something like this," said Franz Wirtensohn (CSU).

The café can only be an enrichment for the village after the other businesses have closed - also with a view of the cycle path and Way of St. James that leads through the village.

Geretsried Mayor Michael Müller (CSU) called it courageous to run a restaurant today.

But "it's exactly what we want for Gelting".

Volker Witte (Greens) agreed.

Sabine Gus-Mayer (CSU) said with a wink that it was a pity that there would only be 30 places.

"Then I can't come by bus with the seniors," says the seniors' officer, who organizes trips with the seniors' leisure time Isar-Loisachtal.

Café should be called "Trudi's dream".

Gus-Mayer was surprised that only a staff toilet is planned.

However, Christian Müller explained that there is no need for guest toilets if alcohol is not being served.

But the committee only has to make the building law decision.

In this respect there were no objections.

The board unanimously approved the change of use.

Trudi Pfattrisch followed the meeting with her daughter, a trained hotel manager, who will initially support her.

The 67-year-old was "positively surprised" that her project was so well received.

This brings "Trudi's dream" a step closer.
