In 2011, Die Flippers broke up, but now an old song by the hit band may even become the summer hit of the year: "We say thank you" has recently developed out of nowhere into a phenomenon that is sweeping the masses.

Especially pinball star Olaf Malolepski can hardly believe it.

Knittlingen - For decades, Die Flippers inspired whole generations of pop fans (here is an overview of all pop news).

The band broke up in 2011, but Olaf Malolepski in particular, who once gave himself the nickname “the pinball machine”, remained true to the music and continued to delight fans live and with his own solo albums.

The 76-year-old is immensely pleased that an old song by the group could become the summer hit of the year.

Flippers hit "We say thank you" on everyone's lips - hit band experiences revival

Already in 2009 "We Say Thank You", at that time as part of the Flippers remix album "The New Hit on Hit Party Album".

Now, around 13 years later, the hit is experiencing a brilliant rise, can't be missed at any party and is even played and sung at festivals that otherwise have little to do with Schlager (the most successful German pop singers of all time).

There is already a petition online to book Die Flippers for the mega spectacle “Rock am Ring” next year.

However, nothing will come of it, because the pop band not only broke up years ago, but also lost an important member in 2016 with Manfred Durban (†) (these pop singers tragically died).

Olaf Malolepski, who is still active as a musician, was open in conversation with

, calling the petition "awesome".

Pop star Olaf Malolepski is happy about Flippers' success - "I've never experienced anything so crazy"

The fact that "We say thank you" is now on everyone's lips pleases the hit star at least as much: "I've never experienced anything so crazy.

Suddenly young people come to my performances just to hear the title.

I have no idea what the trigger was.

But of course I'm very happy," said Olaf Malolepski at

, happy that the pinball hit is now going through the roof.

Other hit stars are also in a good mood at the moment: Giovanni Zarrella attended a Billie Eilish concert with his daughter in the Lanxess Arena in Cologne – and caught a great moment!
