10 people were killed and 7 others were injured in a road accident in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
"A passenger bus carrying people from Lakhimpur Khiri district of Uttar Pradesh state has crashed in Bilibet district, killing 10 people and injuring seven others, one of whom is in critical condition," Xinhua news agency quoted local police as saying.
The police indicated that the bus driver became tired and drowsy while driving, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle and cause the accident.
According to Indian government statistics, about 150,000 people are killed annually in traffic accidents, which reach nearly half a million in India.
