In the Unterschleißheim participatory budget, 200,000 euros are available this year.

Just what to do with the money?

17 ideas have now come together in a survey.

Unterschleißheim

– The fate of the city's youngest residents is important to a considerable number of Unterschleißheim residents.

In the top 5 of the hit list for participatory budgeting 2022, three proposals deal with children's playgrounds.

A total of 200,000 euros is available.

City councilors will vote on October 12th.

The voting phase for the participatory budget, which has been running since the spring, has been completed.

17 proposals were received and evaluated by citizens.

The town hall is now looking at the proposals that received the best marks from the participants.

The residents of Unterschleißheim would like to have a trampoline and an adventure playground for the children of the town.

In addition, the sand from the playground in Lohwald is to be renewed.

In the top 5 of the hit list there is also a ride-on bench for car journeys to neighboring towns.

Public fruit trees in the city area should also be signposted.

In October it will be decided which ideas will be implemented

In the coming months, the town hall will deal with the 17 ideas received.

The proposals with the most votes are to be checked according to “content criteria”: What does a concept for implementation look like?

How high are the costs?

The test procedure is analogous to the hit list of suggestions received.

And so until the available budget is used up.

On October 12, the main committee decides which ideas will be implemented.

Every year since 2015, Unterschleißheim has had a participatory budget, initially endowed with 100,000 euros.

Two years ago, the project, which had been running under the title “Bürgerbudget”, was reformed.

The city council doubled the funds available.

For this purpose, the citizens' budget is awarded every two years.

The budget proposals were discussed and coordinated via the open source platform "Consul".

The city wants to set an example for transparency and co-determination.

Honored by the UN Habitat II Conference in Istanbul in 1996, the idea of participatory budgeting infected considerable parts of the world.

Cities like Toronto, New York, Barcelona and Cologne developed their own concepts.

However, the initial euphoria abated.

Numerous cities in this country have said goodbye to participatory budgeting due to low participation.

Unterschleißheim is one of the few municipalities that offer their citizens a budget for their own projects.

Anyone who is registered with their main or secondary residence in the city can take part.

Proposals must serve the common good and be the responsibility of the city.

Demanding more teachers, for example, makes no sense since Unterschleißheim is not responsible.

The next round will start in spring 2024.
