Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian affirmed that the Russian side supports reaching an agreement in the ongoing nuclear talks in Vienna and Moscow does not obstruct the agreement in this regard.
"We were closer to an agreement than ever before in the previous round of talks last March, but America raised some new issues during that period," Abdullahian said in an interview with the Croatian newspaper (The Cherni List) today.
Regarding Iran's strong criticism of European countries for their negative role in the talks, Abdullahian said, "We are now at a stage where we must reach a solution to some issues between us and the Americans, and the issue that was put on the table is the abolition of the unilateral US embargo on Iran, but we are witnessing the failure of the Americans and Europeans to abide by their commitments."
Abdullahian pointed out that the EU's foreign and security policy chief Josep Borrell and his deputy, Enrique Mora, are playing a constructive role in the negotiations and are working to reach an agreement. For several months, nuclear talks between Iran and the 4+1 group have been taking place in the Austrian capital, Vienna, with the aim of reviving the nuclear agreement signed with Iran. 2015 after the US withdrew from it in 2018.
