Age is not just a number: the widget that moved me Israel today

Kobi Arieli is young enough (50) to install an app, but is as enthusiastic about it as an old man (still 50)

The enlightenment hit me when I heard the scream.

Of myself.

It was a short but loud shout, and it came out of my mouth involuntarily.

From the intensity of the excitement and the magnitude of the moment she was ejected.

And when I heard it, I realized something.

And no.

It has nothing to do with the dispersing Knesset and the disintegrating coalition, even though there was an outcry of excitement and the magnitude of the moment.

I am talking about a much more trivial and human event that happened between a person and himself, or more precisely between a person and his age.

At the heart of a public transportation vehicle, just a day of sand, I suddenly discovered exactly how old I was.

Well, the story is as follows: I do not usually use public transport, but this week I found myself traveling on a city bus (available and convenient, it must be said) in the center of Jerusalem.

The reason I needed the bus and did not ride in my car that we purchased in hard work, is that I wanted to get to my belongings district.

The car, too, would take me at the end of a traffic jam to my belongings district, but then I would look for an hour of parking and come home desperate;

Since the goal was to get there and even enter the object district, I got on a bus and immediately encountered the first problem of someone who is not used to riding the bus: I did not have a multi-line ticket.

But no problem, the one next to me told me.

Download Mobit.

or!

This is actually a stage in life that I love.

I quickly and concentratedly downloaded the app.

What now?

I asked the driver.

Now scan the code up here and pay, he said.

And I quickly found the code, picked up the device in its direction, scanned, tapped, it was paid and then it happened: I let out a shout of admiration that it had worked.

Really shouted, ah!

Or: Wow!

Or maybe even: Yahoo!

Short, as mentioned, but really loud.

And when I heard her, I realized in a second that I was old.

I mean, not really old.

After all, if I were really old, I would not be able to download an app and pay with it in less than a minute and standing on the bus.

But the shout, Yoo, the shout.

It was a call of admiration and trust in the institutions of the land of technology.

In many ways, it was no different from the texts of 80-year-olds and 90s who can tell me: anything is possible today on the Internet.

Everything (try it in different postcard accents, it will come out better).

And through it I more or less understood my place.

I'm up to date and controlling and also addicted to gadgets and mostly buys digital nonsense and nonsense, but 50 is 50, what to do.

And when you're the one generation who once paid for a card on a bus with a heart-shaped hole punch and a small money pipe fixture (which still exists on some lines), and suddenly a barcode scanner and it's paid - you run away a little shout that's exactly what it says: you're young enough to install an app, but old enough To get excited about it being installed.
