Another extension: Wirtz commits himself to Bayer until 2027

National player Florian Wirtz has extended his already long-term contract with Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen four years before it expires.
After the extension by a year, the 19-year-old is now under contract until 2027 with the third-placed player in the Bundesliga last season.
Wirtz came to Leverkusen from local rivals 1. FC Köln in January 2020 and quickly became a regular player and top performer.
Leverkusen - Since his debut in September 2021, he has played four senior internationals.
He has been absent since March due to a cruciate ligament tear.
"We were able to show one of the best German players of the coming decade important and convincing perspectives," said the outgoing sports director Rudi Völler: "Florian knows that we will continue to be competitive in Leverkusen in the coming years and will attack at national and international level .
