The escalation of sanctions in the education system in the last two days has contributed to a sharp increase in the revenues of malls, pools and restaurants.

The strike in the education system has caused huge losses to the economy, as parents of children in kindergartens and primary schools have had to give up working days and stay at home, but there are those who have benefited from it: the businesses that are entertainment for the children.

The malls, restaurants and pools are reporting a significant increase in the number of visitors in the last two days of the sanctions, and the result has been expressed at the box office.

Thus, for example, Cinema City reported an increase of about 30% on average in the number of passers-by, and in Dizengoff Center an increase of about 25% in the number of visitors, mainly of young audiences.

Omar Ogolnik, CEO of Ofer Malls, told Israel Today about an "18% increase in the number of visitors.

We would have preferred to see the children in the schools during these hours, but we are happy that they are leaving home and at least doing some kind of activity. "

Prefer to stay with the kids

The Tel Aviv port reported a 20% increase in visitors compared to last week, mainly of families with children.

Due to the recent rainy days, demand has also increased in the pools, and according to Keren Shatui, CEO of the Holmes Place Group, "during the days of the strike, there was a more than 30% increase in children and youth entering swimming pools and clubs."

Naturally, the restaurant sector also enjoys great demand.

Shai Berman, CEO of the Restaurant Association: “In the last two days, there has been a 25% -15% increase in our morning and afternoon activities.

"Unfortunately, many businesses could not meet the demand due to an extreme shortage of manpower."

Quite a few restaurants have seen dramatic growth in ordering children’s lunches, which typically characterize the holidays and the big holiday.

According to Bernardo Belchowitz, one of the owners of the Cafe Gan Sipur group, "when the strike began we saw a significant increase of 20% in the number of visitors. Although the lunches work, the parents prefer to stay with the children and see it clearly in the parks we are in."
