In Hamburg, a young woman was attacked by a man early Thursday morning.
The perpetrator pulled out a knife and the victim was in mortal danger after the attack.
A 29-year-old was arrested.
Update from June 23, 2:20 p.m .:
After the knife attack on a 19-year-old in Hamburg, a suspect was arrested.
According to the police, the 29-year-old was picked up by the homicide squad in a vocational school in the Ottensen district in western Hamburg after "extensive investigations".
His apartment had been searched.
The man has Afghan nationality.
At first, investigators did not disclose his relationship with the victim.
The suspect is scheduled to appear before a magistrate on Friday.

Hamburg - A young woman is fighting for her life in a Hamburg hospital.
As various media reports, the 19-year-old was attacked by a man with a knife early Thursday morning.
He stabbed the victim several times.
The police give the time of the crime as 6:20 a.m. and speak of “various stab wounds”.
The crime happened at a bus stop near the Mümmelmannsberg train station in the Billstedt district on Kandinskyallee.
