Freising

- This year, from next Sunday, June 26th, to Saturday, July 16th, the district-wide city cycling and the school cycling will take place again.

The city of Freising is also there.

"Everyone who lives, works, studies or goes to school in Freising can enter the kilometers they have cycled for three weeks either via the app or online and not only actively promote climate protection, but also show how important the topic of cycling is in Freising", explains Christl Steinhart, press spokeswoman for the city.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

"The war against Ukraine is not the only thing that shows more and more how important it is to switch to environmentally friendly means of transport and that the bicycle can be an important building block for the traffic turnaround," emphasizes Dominik Fuchs, Mobility Manager for the city of Freising.

He promotes participation in city cycling: "Every single kilometer counts - whether it's to school, to go shopping or on a bike tour at the weekend."

Incentive to be active

As in the previous year, it is possible to found teams and thus show which clubs, initiatives, companies or schools are the most active in the cathedral city.

In order to ignite the competitive spirit even more, there is the possibility of founding subgroups after successful registration, for example to find out which sports department has the most active cyclists or whether the IT specialists or the business economists in the company are cycle the most kilometers.

The most active individuals and teams will receive a separate prize for city cycling and school cycling after the summer holidays at a big closing event.

Rally to start on June 26th

This year's city cycling will begin with a rally on Sunday, June 26, to the Hallertau Beer Festival in Attenkirchen.

At this kick-off event, cyclists from all municipalities in the district gather to ring in the city bike season together.

The Freisinger group meets at 11 am at Marienplatz and drives together to Attenkirchen.

Everyone then organizes the return trip themselves. According to the city, further events are being planned.
