A man has been missing from Lake Murner since Tuesday.

The first police search was unsuccessful.

After an accident on a bathing lake, a woman was quickly rescued - after a long search, rescue workers found her husband's body.

Update from June 22, 4:40 p.m .:

After the search for the 41-year-old stand-up paddler in the night from June 21 to June 22 had to be canceled without success, the search continued on Wednesday, June 22.

Water rescue boats (with sonar), a drone, a diving robot and divers were used.

Finally, the rescue divers found the man.

Around noon, his body was recovered from a depth of 28 meters, about 30 to 50 meters from the scene of the accident.

The Amberg Criminal Police Inspectorate is now taking over the investigation.

According to the police report, the exact course of the accident is the subject of the investigation.

First report from June 22:

Schwarzenfeld – On Tuesday, June 21, there was a swimming accident at Lake Murner near Schwarzenfeld (Schwandorf district) in the Upper Palatinate.

A woman could be rescued relatively quickly.

However, her husband is still missing.

A large-scale search was unsuccessful.

The search will continue on Wednesday.

41-year-old man sinks in Lake Murner – large search operation begins

The Murner See, northeast of Schwandorf, is a popular bathing lake in the region.

With its 90 hectares, it is a sought-after starting point for many who are looking to cool off from the summer temperatures.

A couple was out on Tuesday with their stand-up paddle boards (SUP).

Both the 41-year-old husband and his wife fell into the water.

However, the casualty was pulled out of the water relatively quickly by a group on a pedal boat.

According to witness statements, the husband, on the other hand, went under at around 6:20 p.m. at the height of the observation tower.

The passers-by immediately called the integrated control center (ILS) and informed the police, fire brigade and rescue service.

A large contingent of rescue workers made their way to the scene of the accident.

The water rescue service was also on site and searched the area with boats.

A group of divers also went in search of the missing person.

A rescue helicopter and a drone were also deployed.

All without success.

Search is canceled and continued the next day

At around 11.45 p.m. the search measures had to be stopped.

The rescue workers want to continue to search for the missing person.

The search will continue on Wednesday.

So far, however, without a success message (as of 10:40 a.m.).

Why the man fell into the water was initially unclear.

The police ruled out turbulence on the water due to bad weather.
