The Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority has revised the 2024 examination rules to accept eligible schools outside Hong Kong to participate in the DSE. The schools concerned must be "Yukao schools" approved by relevant Mainland authorities and approved to offer HKDSE courses.
Mainland schools are also required to provide examination venues to accommodate original school candidates and self-study students from outside. That is, in addition to the English speaking test, physical education and music practice test, candidates from the Mainland who apply for DSE Category A subjects can sit for the test in the Mainland.
The HKEAA also confirmed that it has received applications from mainland schools to participate in the 2024 DSE for the first time.

The HKEAA announced that the relevant Mainland schools must provide proof that they have been recognised by the relevant Mainland authorities as eligible schools for Hong Kong children and approved to offer HKDSE courses, and that the HKEAA will decide whether the schools concerned can be accepted as "Yokao schools" .
English speaking test and physical education and music practice test need to be taken in Hong Kong
The bureau also pointed out that for Category B Applied Learning subjects and Category C other language subjects, examinations will only be offered and held in Hong Kong, and mainland candidates must also sit for English speaking exams and physical education and music practice exams together with other Hong Kong candidates.

Mainland schools need to provide examination rooms to accommodate original school candidates and self-study students
As for the arrangement of the Mainland examination venues, under the arrangement of the original schools and regional examination venues for core subjects, schools are obliged to provide examination venues to accommodate all original school candidates and foreign candidates who are self-study students. For candidates and self-study students from other schools, the approval of the relevant local authorities may be required.
The HKEAA added that appropriate teacher training will be provided to mainland schools for relevant school-based assessment subjects, and the examination operation and invigilation requirements will be as consistent as possible with Hong Kong examination practices.
