150 days to go until Qatar 2022 2:52
(CNN Spanish) --
The teams that go to the Qatar 2022 World Cup will now be able to call up 26 players for the tournament.
This was decided by the FIFA Council Bureau along with other changes on international football.
FIFA decided that the maximum number of members of the final list of each selection now goes to 26 players (previously it was 23).
The minimum they can summon is 23 players.
In addition, the maximum number of the provisional list goes from 35 to 55 footballers.
In the World Cup there may be a maximum of 26 people on the bench, made up of up to 15 substitutes and 11 members of the coaching staff (one must be the doctor).
The governing body of world soccer said that the last day of leagues that the players included in those definitive lists will play will be on November 13, 2022.
The World Cup will start on November 21 and end on December 18, 2022.
FIFA says the move responds to "the need to retain additional flexibility due to the exceptionality of the 2022 FIFA World Cup dates on the international calendar, as well as the effects of the pandemic on teams before and during the competitions".

There are 32 teams that will compete in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. The qualifiers began in 2019, but due to the covid-19 pandemic, the classification was not defined until June 14, when Costa Rica got the last quota.
This measure is in addition to the changes made by the International Football Association Board that come into force on July 1 and that include modifications to what goalkeepers can do in penalties.
