The field with the blue flowers was probably the most photographed field in the entire region in recent weeks.
Now it has faded.
But you can still enjoy it.
Pasenbach ‒ What the lavender blossom is in Provence, the blue poppy is in Dachau.
This beautiful field near Pasenbach was probably the most photographed field in the entire region in the past few weeks - a kind of "hotspot" of photography in social networks.
On Facebook and Instagram there are photos of the violet blooming poppies at sunrise, at sunset, with a horse, with a dog, with a child.
"A lot of people came," says farmer Peter Gradl from Vierkirchen with a smile.
"Each plant only blooms for one day, the whole field was in bloom for about a week," he explains.
In the meantime, the dream has faded into violet.
If the flower has been fertilized, the small aromatic seeds develop from it in a large seed capsule, the well-known poppy seeds.
It is harvested around mid-August.
Peter Gradl grows the poppies for the Kloiber, Wörmann and Geisenhofer bakeries in the Dachau district and for Plank in Neumarkt.
So if you want to taste the poppy seeds from this field, you can look forward to poppy seed rolls, poppy seed cakes or poppy seed snails.
By the way: everything from the region is also available in our regular Dachau newsletter.
