The current high school graduates will be dismissed from the Schongauer Welfen-Gymnasium tomorrow, Friday.

School days are also coming to an end for a quartet that achieved the dream mark of 1.0.

Schongau – your hobbies are as colorful as life itself: Antonia Braun (18) is fascinated by the French language and has been in this country for a longer period as part of an exchange program.

Felix Ruhland (17) likes to play the drums in his free time, Jakob Johann Bißle (19) likes to garden, plant kohlrabi, leeks and tomatoes and much more.

And Sonja Mogk (18) has a passion for the theater.

That's what makes this quartet different.

But there is also one thing in common.

Not just any, but a very special one: With an average of 1.0, the four are among the best in the Abitur class of the Welfen-Gymnasium in Schongau.

They sit relaxed at the table during a conversation in the editorial room, not a trace of relief or exhaustion - sensitivities that are certainly part of many other graduates with less good grades when the stress of learning is over.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.

"Active learning" helped to achieve the dream grade

Antonia Braun is not far from the dream score of 900: she got 868, first place among the four top high school graduates in Schongau.

gold so to speak.

How do you do that?

Was it easy for her to learn as a gifted child, did she have to make an effort or did she develop a special method?

The latter is the case, called “active learning”, a cram system with intelligence, which – as the name suggests – is about activity.

As much as possible.

"It's not enough to just read a foreign language or hear it on the radio, you have to speak it as much as possible," says Braun.

Simply enter and mark words in the vocabulary book - not enough.

Otherwise, of course, learning "didn't just fall out of the sky" for her.

First play the drums extensively

Felix Ruhland, who is particularly fond of Latin, history and music, doesn't quite know how to explain the brilliant success.

Learning is just one thing: some can do it, others can't.

The former is definitely the case for him.

His career aspirations?

"I'll take my time." Now he wants to do what he enjoys most: playing the drums.

Jakob Johann Bißle, on the other hand, is a biologist in disguise, but one on the road to success: in addition to English, economics and law, he has chosen this subject as his main focus, so his career goal is not surprising: he will probably end up training as a biological laboratory assistant.

He also achieved an impressive score: 855 – second best.

To learn?

"Sure, you have to do a lot."

From secondary school to the 1.0-Abitur

Sonja Mogk also got a 1.0.

Sonja Mogk has made a real vertical start: The Peißenberg native came from secondary school and after the final exams went directly to the Welfen-Gymnasium.

During the three additional years of hard training, however, she always remained true to her passion and even worked diligently in the theater group.

And now?

Get straight to the next challenge, or just relax and unwind, as you deserve?

Second of course.

It's going to the Netherlands, on the night train.

To the North-Sea.

"It has to be easy now, I'm happy," says Mogk and laughs.
