Fish patties in a spicy tomato and eggplant sauce (PR)
With quite a few homes in Israel, it's not Friday, without a steaming pot of fish patties in a spicy tomato sauce on the table.
One that simply requires taking a challah, and wiping off the remaining sauce.
Every family has its own recipe, but we will always look to upgrade it, improve it, get to the perfect pot.
And if at all, you are inexperienced in the kitchen, and have never made fish patties in a sauce.
This recipe is your chance to jump into the water.

Tamara Aharoni, who has long been not only "the daughter of" but already a mother herself, and a gifted cook, with simple, homemade and excellent recipes, brings us this time her version of excellent fish patties.
Tamara's patties are juicy, tender and meaty.
They are lightly fried, then popped in into the sauce that is already being cooked, full of fresh tomatoes, lots of garlic, hot green pepper and eggplant cubes.
Just do not forget the tahini at the end.
There is more Shabbat pleasure than that.

Preparation
How to make fish patties in a spicy tomato sauce?
1
Prepare the patties:
Put the fish in a large bowl, add the rest of the patties ingredients and mix well to a uniform mixture.
Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes (and possibly longer).
2 Form chubby and flattened patties with oiled hands.
3 Heat 4-5 tablespoons of olive oil in a flat, wide pot and sear the patties for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden.
Remove to a plate.
4
Prepare the sauce:
Preheat oven to 200 degrees.
5 Cut the eggplant into cubes about 2-3 cm in size and transfer to a pan lined with baking paper. Pour olive oil generously over the eggplant, salt and pepper and bake for about 10-15 minutes until the eggplant cubes are well golden.
6 Heat olive oil in a flat, wide pot and fry the garlic and pepper for about 2 minutes.
7 Add the tomatoes, salt water and black pepper and cook for about 25-30 minutes on a low flame.
8 Add the eggplant cubes to the sauce and mix well.
Arrange the fish patties in the sauce and cook for about 10 minutes.
9 Before serving, pour over tehini.
