The first trend that jumps to the eye is the shortening of first names.

At work since the 1980s, this phenomenon is particularly marked among girls.

In the top 10 female names of 2021, the longest (Louise) contains only 6 letters.

And seven first names among the ten most given consist of 4 letters or less: Jade (in first position), Emma, ​​Rose, Anne, Alba, Romy and Mia.

Another strong trend: the official attribution of diminutives as a first name: in 2021, there are, for example, nearly 2,000 Toms, against only 820 Thomases.

The same goes for the lightning Lily, who long since dethroned Elizabeth.

Maxime resists: in 2021, there are 960 against 156 Max among boys (respectively 55 and 26 among girls).
