The Luhansk People's Republic announced that its forces, with fire coverage from the Russian army, repelled a counter-attack launched by the Kyiv forces to break the siege towards the city of Lyschansk in the republic.
Russia Today quoted a source in the Luhansk forces as saying: "The situation in this direction is tense because the enemy is trying to launch counterattacks, as it tried yesterday afternoon to penetrate the right flank," noting that the Ukrainian formations are trying unsuccessfully to return the positions and fortified areas they lost.
The source also pointed out that the battle lasted an hour and a half and that thanks to the artillery, the infantry and the armored unit, the enemy withdrew to its positions after incurring heavy losses in manpower and equipment.
