Damascus University and Al Baraka Bank Syria signed today a memorandum of understanding with the aim of linking the research and educational activities of the Faculty of Sharia (Islamic Economics Department) with the requirements of society and the development of research and scientific initiatives in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of economic and social development in Syria.

According to the memorandum signed by the President of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama Al-Jabban, and the CEO of Al Baraka Bank Syria, Muhammad Abdullah Halabi, the Faculty of Sharia provides the bank with copies of research and master’s theses for the students of the Master of Islamic Economics related to the work of the Bank, in addition to providing it with the results of graduates from the students of the Master of Islamic Economics to study giving them opportunities to study. Recruitment according to work requirements.

According to the memorandum, the College of Sharia allocates a number of seats in the training workshops it holds in the event that the bank wishes to nominate a number of its employees to participate in them free of charge or with reduced fees in accordance with the laws of the Office of Profession Practice at the University of Damascus. for college students.

On the other hand, the Bank participates in providing information on scientific research theses for Master’s students in Islamic Economics during the preparation phase of the thesis in a manner that does not conflict with the Banking Secrecy Law and in scientific seminars presented to Master’s students according to the topics chosen by the Bank.

According to the memorandum, the bank participates in the training courses provided by the Office of Professional Practice of the College of Sharia, in the jurisdiction of the jurisprudence of financial transactions, supervision, Sharia audit, financing and investment formulas, banking services and the mechanism of action of Islamic banks, where participation is to provide the practical aspect of training, and it also provides practical training opportunities for master's students. The Islamic economy is within the bank's departments in a way that does not impede the progress of work.

The signing of the memorandum was attended by the Deputy Minister of Awqaf, Dr. Waseem Mawlana, the Dean of the Faculty of Sharia, Dr. Hassan Awad, and a number of members of the Board of Directors of Al Baraka Bank Syria.
