One person was killed and another injured in a shooting in the San Francisco subway today.
And the American CNBC news network quoted the city's police as saying that they "received a report of a quarrel inside the train, after which a man opened fire, killing one person and wounding another."
Other details of the accident were not clear, while the US authorities suspended the metro service in the city to complete preliminary investigations.
With the rise in shootings and crimes in the United States to unprecedented levels, data published by Fox News indicated that six major American cities witnessed a rapid growth in violent crimes this year, exceeding previous records.
The data showed that New York City witnessed a 25.8 percent jump in violent crimes in this period of the year compared to 2021, and crimes in Washington increased by 12 percent in the middle of this year compared to 2021.
Los Angeles was next, with an 8.6% increase so far this year, while Philadelphia and Baltimore recorded an increase of 7% and 6.1%, respectively.
According to Fox News, violent crimes including murder, rape, assault and robbery have been on the rise since 2020.
