Latakia-SANA
The National Campaign for Early Detection of Cancer in Lattakia Governorate is witnessing an active participation of clinics and private laboratories with the aim of providing the best conditions for the success of the campaign and achieving the desired goals.
Diagnostic radiologist Dr. Nadia Shaheen explained in a statement to SANA reporter the importance of the campaign, especially with regard to early detection of breast tumors, which are the most common diseases that affect women in different stages of life.
Shaheen drew attention to the role of the media and social media in spreading awareness of the importance of early detection, which was positively reflected in raising the level of awareness and the high demand for detection.
Kholoud Jundi from the Syrian Trust for Development indicated that coordination is taking place between private and public centers to save time and effort on the medical staff and the beneficiaries, noting that there is a specialized committee by the Health Directorate to follow up on suspected cases in order to communicate with them and help them with treatment.
Citizen Cecil Salit, who heard about the campaign through the media, said that she chose the Dr. Nadia Shaheen Radiology Center due to its proximity to her workplace, noting the good interest and ease of dealing within the center and the need to benefit from the campaign and carry out the necessary examinations to check on health.
In the laboratory of Dr. Faisal Nasser, Doctor Muhammad Ali Nasser, a specialist in medical radiology, pointed out the importance of this campaign, as it provides an opportunity for citizens to detect early detection and free treatment for serious diseases that can threaten life, especially in light of the difficult economic conditions and the high costs of chemotherapy, stressing that the periodic examination It is the only way to detect this cancer because it is a silent disease that has no symptoms until after infection.
Regarding the causes of the disease, Nasser pointed out that there is no scientific evidence so far about its causes, but daily life and the entry of materials into some food and agricultural materials and the lack of motor activity may have an effect in increasing its spread.
