A gelding in the western district of Ebersberg showed a great desire for freedom.
In order not to endanger the animal, even trains had to run more slowly.
On Wednesday, June 22, at around 7:30 p.m., a horse ran away from its 59-year-old owner in the Parsdorf area (Municipality of Vaterstetten) when he was walking the animal.
This was announced by the police in Poing.
At the time, the gelding was being treated at the Parsdorf Equine Clinic for medical treatment.
Trains had to slow down
The horse was first spotted in Purfing and later in Ingelsberg.
Since it was finally moving in the immediate vicinity of the railway tracks along the B304, the Deutsche Bahn emergency service was notified and the trains then drove slowly to avoid a collision.
Passer-by can catch animal in Vaterstetten
The horse continued its round trip and was finally caught by a passer-by at around 8.45 p.m. in Vaterstetten on Frühlingsstrasse.
The animal was handed over to the police at the scene.
A towing vehicle with a horse trailer was organized via the Zorneding equestrian center to take the animal to the Parsdorf Equine Clinic.
But the animal definitely didn't feel like driving a trailer and kept all the forces and volunteers employed for another two hours.
Horse unhurt back to horse clinic
With a combined effort, the gelding was finally loaded unharmed and taken back to the clinic.
On site were a veterinarian and two veterinary assistants from the Parsdorf horse clinic, the Purfing fire brigade with four firefighters, volunteers from the Zorneding equestrian center and two patrol crews from the Poing police station.
