The Free State of Bavaria wants to speed up the railway expansion, in particular the elimination of single-track lines.
Also in the district of Erding.
ERding - Bavaria's Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter (CSU) presented the new "Mach 2" initiative on Wednesday.
It contains 16 projects, including one in the district of Erding: the double track expansion between Aufhausen and St. Koloman.
However, this part of the S-Bahn ring circuit or the second main route in Munich from Erding to the airport is only in the "Other projects" category.
Even this year, the Free State wants to use "Mach 2" to expand the Bayreuth-Dürschnitz, Uffing-Murnau and Wörth-Loiching routes.
Overall, "Mach 2" envisages 150 additional kilometers of double track and three new meeting stations.
The section in the district of Erding has to be expanded for the targeted 15-minute S-Bahn service.
It is a - another - meeting section on the single-track line between Erding and Markt Schwaben.
Again and again, trains in Altenerding or Markt Schwaben have to wait because of oncoming traffic, causing a delay.
So far, Deutsche Bahn is assuming construction will start in the first quarter of 2023 and commissioning at the end of 2024. So far, this information has been extremely vague.
Nobody knows whether “Mach 2” will change anything.
