The SC Pöcking-Possenhofen village championship went differently this time than before.
The club's footballers won the Olympics.
Pöcking – After a two-year break due to the pandemic, the Pöcking village championship celebrated a successful comeback on the SC Pöcking-Possenhofen club premises – albeit in a new guise.
Unlike in previous years, there was no football tournament on the 30th anniversary of Corpus Christi and the following Saturday, but a village Olympics with numerous different disciplines.
"We also received some criticism beforehand, but afterwards everyone was pretty enthusiastic," said SCPP board member Ismail Yilmaz.
Only the rush of spectators was limited in the midsummer temperatures, most of those interested only came in the evening and preferred to spend the day before at the lake.
In addition to bubble soccer, football golf, throwing basketball hoops or shooting cans with tennis rackets, stick shooters and the fire brigade also made their own stations available.
For the fire brigade, for example, an operation was simulated.
"It was very varied," emphasizes Yilmaz.
The semi-finals were played in the game of skill Viking chess, the final in boules.
In the end, the footballers still won: The first men's team of the SCPP prevailed in the final against the Pöckinger fraternity, and the Löwen fan club Pöcking came in third.
According to Yilmaz, a number of other Pöckingers to whom the reform had not yet penetrated have already announced their participation for the coming year.
Not only clubs, but also friends and families can participate.
But Yilmaz also gives hope to all fans of the classic football tournament.
He says, "Maybe next time we'll do both."
