Post has arrived in the town hall from the government of Upper Bavaria: a supervisory complaint against Simon Hötzl, the municipality's press spokesman and economics officer.

Unterhaching

- The accusation: the singular advantage of a tradesman.

"Personally, I can stand it," says Simon Hötzl when asked by Münchner Merkur about the complaint.

"It's a lot of paperwork.

And actually I have more important things to do.” But the town hall spokesman has to write a justification for his statements in the course of the media coverage of Café Lani.

Among other things, Simon Hötzl had publicly represented the town hall's position that residents of a town center like the one in Unterhaching had to "accept a certain noise level" because "a revitalization of this central square is wanted by local politicians".

Legitimate Special Use Permission

Above all, however, it is about the community making public land available to Café Lani as an outdoor area.

Simon Hötzl emphasizes that it is a completely normal "permission for special use" as with other catering establishments.

He therefore cannot understand the accusation that he "procured economic advantages for an individual trader (cafe owner Cornelia Nikel; ed.).

And will explain this accordingly in a written statement to the government of Upper Bavaria.

Rumor about felling trees is not true

On this occasion, Simon Hötzl also refutes the rumors that have been spread that trees have been felled especially for the outdoor area of Café Lani.

"No, that is not correct.

The tree that was felled was dilapidated, already hollow on the inside – a safety risk.” Further tree felling cannot be ruled out – and for 2023 the municipality is planning to “redesign this green space” anyway.

The idea is to even expand the current outdoor area: "An attractive location in the middle of the town hall square is good."

Complaints now also against other neighbors

Meanwhile, the flood of complaints from individuals is not only directed against Café Lani, but also against residents on Rathausplatz.

Green spaces were illegally converted into gardens in which children now play.

A local resident was given the prospect that a flower box could fall down, purely by chance, of course.

Secret photos of the café boss

And Cornelia Nikel has received photo mail again: After her café closed, she sat with a friend a few meters away on a public bench, both women drank a glass of wine privately.

The 41-year-old regards the fact that she was photographed without being asked and this picture then distributed as a violation of her personal rights.

Cornelia Nikel is encouraged by the support of many people in Unterhaching: the lists of signatures on a symbolic petition “Café Lani should stay” are filling up quickly.
