Bad Tölz – Getting a place in the "Architektouren" program is a special award for architectural showcase projects.

At the event, to which the Bavarian Chamber of Architects invites every year on the last weekend in June, planners and builders present their works on site to the interested public.

Two projects in Bad Tölz are among the 167 new buildings or measures selected nationwide as “future-oriented” this year: the redesign of the Taubenloch and the new construction of the kindergarten on Jahnstraße.

Park Taubenloch in Bad Tölz on the "architecture tours"

The small park on the Isar was once again given a special honor: Mayor Ingo Mehner and Annika Sailer from the Munich landscape architecture office "Keller Damm Kollegen" presented the redesign this week in the Bavarian Ministry of Building when the "Architektouren" exhibition was opened there .

In front of an audience of around 200 – mostly specialist audience – he put the measure in the Taubenloch in the historical context of the Isar in Bad Tölz, reports Mehner.

The Isar is "not just any river" for the city, but was of great importance as a traffic artery in the direction of Munich.

At the same time, the Isar has always represented a risk of flooding.

As in many other places where the Isar flows through built-up areas, protection against flooding was the priority - and less the "accessibility" or "experience" of the river for people.

Redesign Taubenloch with tamped concrete and flowering areas

In Bad Tölz, on the west side, you can walk along the Isar on the promenade or sit on the shore, on the beach or in cafés.

On the east side, however, there was not such a good place to enjoy the evening sun.

Here the bank seems more "closed off" - with the protective wall on the Isarkai, for example.

In Taubenloch, too, a fence, a beech hedge and behind it a steep embankment prevented access to the Isar for a long time.

At the same time, beaten paths would have shown that many people felt the need to go to the shore here.

A special feature that is in line with the current trend is the natural design of the park.

The traditional tamped concrete technique used to create the small wall for sitting on the flattened bank offers a natural look.

Flowering areas were created for this purpose.

It was also a particular challenge to preserve the old trees.

In order to protect its roots, ground anchors, some of which were screwed deep into the ground, were used to fasten the new path structure and the foundation of the small wall, writes architect Annika Sailer on her office's website.

"Thanks to the anchoring, the little walls in the bank area withstand the regular flooding that occurs during flood events."

“Architecture tours”: Visit to the Jahnstraße kindergarten

Interested parties can find out more about this during the “Architektouren” on Saturday, as well as about the special features of the new kindergarten on Jahnstraße.

Its wooden construction is actually atypical for Bad Tölz, Mehner notes.

After all, the market street had to be rebuilt in stone after it was destroyed by a major fire in 1453.

According to the architects, the new kindergarten building is now a “reinterpretation of a Einfirsthof.

From Mehner's point of view, the building creates a child-friendly environment and a "feeling of security".

Employees from the Munich office "su und z Architekten" explain more on site during the "Architektouren".
