The Beuerberg monastery has existed for 900 years: on this occasion, guided tours, workshops, concerts and flea markets are offered there for the public this coming weekend.

900 years of Beuerberg Monastery: The Diocesan Museum is celebrating with a large programme.

These include guided tours, workshops, concerts and a flea market.

Beuerberg – For 900 years, the Beuerberg monastery has towered over the Loisach and has shaped the country and its people for centuries.

The Freising Diocesan Museum took this anniversary as an opportunity to dedicate a special exhibition to the Augustinian canons who came to “Puriberg” in 1121 and worked there until secularization in 1803.

Now the anniversary will be celebrated at the weekend with a festival of the two monastery patrons Peter and Paul and the publication accompanying the exhibition will be presented.

This Saturday, June 25, and Sunday, June 26, the Freising Diocesan Museum offers visitors a colorful program from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A picnic in the monastery garden, guided tours through the garden, fields and fields and exciting workshops are planned.

The monastery shop is also open.

Food and drinks are served in the refectory and in the monastery garden.

There is also a flea market with rarities from the monastery.

On Saturday from 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sibylle Reinicke will guide you through the herb garden.

A painting and drawing workshop around the monastery is offered by Martina Mair from 1 to 5 p.m.

Elke Härtel invites you to her marionette studio from 1 to 5 p.m.

At 6 p.m., two Well and Zdravko Zivkovic will give a concert in the collegiate church.

Beuerberg Monastery celebrates its anniversary - it is important for business, art and science

On Sunday between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., Christoph Kurzeder will present his chronicle “1121 – 900 years of Beuerberg Monastery” in the chapel.

In 28 articles by well-known authors,Kurzer opens up aspects of monastic life in Beuerberg, the worldly problems of a Bavarian monastery estate and the cultural work of the canons.

Richly illustrated, the volume illustrates the importance of a monastic community for pastoral care and the economy, art, education and science of an entire region.

From 1 p.m. Elena Buono will lead the workshop “Enchanting Rose Watercolors”, from 10.30 a.m. Barbara von Stieglitz invites you to an embroidery course.

You can take part in a guided walk through the rose paths around the monastery from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and a church tour through the former collegiate church with Anja Brandstätter from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The end of the festive days will be a fine baroque concert by the ensemble Lux et Umbrae with some works by Handel, Clarke, Gamberini, Babell, Crof, Carey and other artists from 6 p.m. in the collegiate church.
