A 70-year-old resident of Hadera was arrested yesterday on suspicion of aiding the murder of Yossi Yosefia, 60, from Ramat Gan last week - the police said today (Friday).

According to the suspect, he provided the weapon with which the suspect fired the murder.

His detention was extended until Sunday.

Yosefia was shot to death last week in Ramat Gan, apparently by his father-in-law, a 70-year-old Petah Tikva resident, with the background to the shooting being a divorce dispute between their children, over custody of the grandchildren.

At a hearing, in which his father-in-law's father participated, his lawyer said that he found the weapon he shot about ten years ago in the city of Hadera and even thought that it did not work.

Today, at the hearing extending the detention of the additional suspect, his lawyer claimed that there was no connection between him and the deceased.

"Attributed to the customer that I present a suspicion of handing over a weapon but the police do not hand over the weapon in question and therefore, there is a big question mark about it."

He added, "Why don't the police say the type of weapon? If they have a hard time saying it could be an air pistol, then it's not my client's weapon."

The murder case investigation reveals that the murder suspect found the gun about ten years ago and came to the scene to discuss the divorce dispute between the couple.

He went up with the victim in the elevator while they talked about his son and his distress.

Apparently, the conversation between the two escalated when it came to the victim's daughter - who corresponded with an anonymous person.

According to the suspect, the murdered man teased him and pushed him, so he pulled out the gun in order to scare him.

"He told me 'Well, shoot,'" he testified, adding that he did not believe the gun was working and that he was in a state of intoxication.

The suspect called the police, waited and turned himself in, then recounted the incident.

He denies the allegation that he tried to kill Josephine's bride and wife.

During the court hearing he burst into tears and shouted "I'm sorry for the day it happened, I didn't mean to".

Josephine has three daughters and a son.

One of the sisters, Mina, is the suspect's bride.

The second daughter, Hadas, said that "we really did not think it would reach such a situation, the whole divorce matter was in diapers, there was a first meeting only this week."

She also said that the suspect was waiting for her father under the building after returning from the synagogue, and boarded an elevator with him.

"We heard gunshots and my father shouted 'help me,'" Hadas repeated.

"My sister tried to go outside and check what happened. She opened the door with my mother and the child. The boy saw him with the gun, he aimed the gun at them, my mother quickly dragged them inside, and slammed the door. He tried to shoot them and luckily he shot the door and not "If my mother didn't do it, he would just kill everyone there. The child will not recover from it."

Hadas is in an advanced stage of pregnancy, and her third daughter, Esti, received the news of her father's death when she celebrated her bachelorette party in Eilat, ahead of her upcoming wedding.

"I fell apart on the floor of the hotel," Esti said of receiving the news, "we set off straight away and came here. I could not believe it. We took it from us, they took our father."

Esti also testified that they did not imagine that her brother-in-law's father would do what he did, but said that he "was always a bad man," and even threatened to correspond with her father.

"There were threatening messages towards my father and my father said 'everything will be fine'. He loved my sister's husband so much, he just wanted to take care of him and his mental state. My sister's husband always said our family is better than his and he feels more family with us ".

The lawyer representing the suspect's son in the divorce proceedings said that the couple began the process about a month and a half ago, during which the couple, Mina, moved with her children to her parents' house in Ramat Gan.

According to her, only last Thursday was a mediation meeting between the parties, which progressed nicely.

She added that the father was broken from the case, and that the murdered man was "like a father" to him.

A man familiar with the details of the family dispute said yesterday that the murder suspect is suspected that his grandson is not interested in seeing him because of the bride's father, which is why he was shot.

A building tenant said that "this is a normative family. The grandfather who was shot is a good person, it was really surprising and I did not believe he was murdered."
