A very sad day for all women

Feminism has already changed the world, and this setback will only ensure that terminations of pregnancy take place clandestinely and are no longer safe

It is a very sad day for women's rights around the world.

When it is more necessary than ever to guarantee courageous feminist policies, once again the judges of the United States take a giant step backwards and choose to side with machismo.

They claim that women can only have one role in society: to be mothers.

With this reform they intend to make us return to that United States that Betty Friedan spoke of, where they intend to condemn us to the only role of caregivers and housewives.

Feminism has already changed the world and, therefore, this setback will only ensure that abortions take place clandestinely, that they are no longer safe.

We have no doubt that the American feminist movement will react as it has done so many times and push the Democrats of the Biden Administration to legislate along the same lines as the new Spanish abortion law.

It is clear that women's rights must be shielded against reactionary policies.

The right to interrupt a pregnancy is not a right linked only to the private sphere, but also has to do with the capacity of a country to recognize citizenship to its women and also with the health and public health standards that are deployed for it.

Hopefully the solution that the Biden Administration puts on the table will also take the necessary steps once and for all to expand health as a right in the United States.
