After the publication of confidential police documents from the G7 summit in 2015, security authorities confiscated the Pirate Party's server data.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen - In the course of investigating the data leak at the G7 summit, the public prosecutor's office confiscated information from two of the Pirate Party's servers.

The party announced this on Friday and criticized the actions of the Munich II public prosecutor.

According to the party, the reason for this is that, among other things, a server of the Pirate Party was used to publish the secret documents, via which documents can be shared online publicly and free of charge.

So this does not mean that the party is connected to the data leak itself.

"The servers had to be taken off the network and all data released without restriction - or the servers would have been taken," said the leader of the Pirate Party, Anne Herpertz.

“The severity of this procedure is incomprehensible to us.

Instead of approaching us, the police put their pistols directly to our chests.”

The public prosecutor confirmed the confiscation of data from two servers of the German Pirate Party.

It took place on Wednesday based on a court order.

The responsible spokeswoman did not comment on the party's allegations.

There were no further confiscations in the course of the investigation.

However, the published information should not have any mission-critical effects on the security of the current G7 summit in Elmau, which begins on Sunday.

In order to ensure that everything runs smoothly, the security area around Schloss Elmau has even been enlarged.
